Percussionist, Jazz Vibraphonist, Improviser, Composer.
She performs with top jazz and classical musicians including Tan Dun, Dave Holland, Jerry Bergonzi, Donny McCaslin, Billy Hart, Cecil McBee etc.
Hailed from Shanghai, Chenchu graduated from New England Conservatory, she can perform both classical and jazz.
During her study at New England Conservatory, she won the scholarship and received the honor of performing on her piece “Wuxijing” and “Easterners” at International Jazz day.
She is now dedicating herself to combine oriental music with jazz, classical, and modern music to form a unique music style, bring Chinese traditions and traditional music to the world. The new album “Easterners” Series will be released soon in 2019.
She performed in Nis jazz festival, Bansko Jazz festival, Shanghai International Jazz Festival etc. In recent years, she was also invited as percussion soloist by Lyon National Symphony Orchestra in France, Rotterdam Symphony Orchestra, Getty Museum in Los Angeles, Lincoln Center in New York, New York Chinese Association, Macao Symphony Orchestra, China National Grand Theater, National Symphony Orchestra as well as Venice Biennale, Stuttgart Symphony Orchestra, Toscana Symphony Orchestra, Norwegian Royal Symphony Orchestra and Adelaide Symphony Orchestra.
