Biography & Career
Being a professional jazz drummer, composer and painter, Ignat Kravtsov is regularly seen
as a participant of various international jazz festivals in the USA, Japan, Germany, Belgium,
the Netherlands, Poland, Ukraine, Russia. He has a gift and the ability to perform in different
musical genres.
Ignat was born and grew up in Yekaterinburg. Being inspired by his father, who was a highly
demanded drummer in Yekaterinburg, Ignat started to study music and drum technique.
When Ignat was 6, a tragedy happened in Kravtsov’s family - Ignat’s father passed away.
After the shock had gone away, Ignat decided to dedicate all his life to playing music and
studying drums.
Being well taught by his father, in 2006 Ignat started to study drums in the Sverdlovsk
Musical College named after P.I. Tchaikovsky in the class of Yury Bobrushkin, a famous
Russian teacher of drumming.
After the college Ignat became the member of “David Orchestra” jazz band from
Yekaterinburg. At that time the band included such well-known jazz-artists as Igor Parashuk
(The Urals Conservatoire professor and a great saxophonist), Vitaliy Vladimirov on a
trombone, Aleksandr Titov on keys and Askhat Saifullin on a double bass. David Orchestra
was an honored guest at Miami Jazz Festival in Florida.
While working with “David Orchestra”, in 2005-2013 Ignat started collaboration with a
famous Russian chansonnier Aleksandr Novikov. Together they made several tours in
Russia.
In 2008 the name of Ignat Kravtsov was mentioned by Vladimir Feiertag in his Encyclopedia
of Jazz
In 2008 Ignat with his old time fellows bassist Aleksandr Bulatov and guitarist Anton Ilenkov
set up the “Free Spoken Band” fusion band. With their avant-garde program the band made
tours in Russia, Poland and Ukraine until 2013.
In March 2013 Ignat moved to Moscow to start his work as the musician with well-known
artists and groups. Anton Davidyants, Ivan Farmakovskiy, Sergey Golovnya, Andrey
Krasilnikov, Mariam Marabova, Alena Toymintseva, Alina Rostotskaya, Eva Nani, “Guru
Groove Foundation” and the multinational ensemble “Authentic Light Orchestra”
(Switzerland, Armenia, Russia) were among them.
In 2014 Ignat met Evgeniy Lebedev and Anton Revniyouk. Together they set “LRK trio”,
which gave shows in Russia, Estonia, Poland, the Netherlands, Belgium, Switzerland. In
summer 2017 “LRK trio” made a tour in Japan to support their recent album.
In October 2017 Ignat was invited by Anton Belayev, the famous Russian composer and
showman, to join his “Therr Maitz” indie-group, that had gained the popularity in recent years
in Russia.
Ignat is also the leader of his own band named “Amber Sept”. In March 2017 “Amber Sept”
presented their debut album that enjoyed positive acclaims.
During the years of his professional career Ignat worked and toured with such artists as
Steve Turre, Stanley Jordan, Linley Marthe, Jimmy Haslip, Ralph Bowen, Jaleel Shaw,
George Cables and many others.
Since the age of 16 Ignat has been giving some private drum lessons and has been doing
some drum related master-classes.
Moreover, Ignat is a painter, who has gained the fine arts connoisseurs’ recognition. He has
already done several exhibitions in Moscow.
